Islamic Civilization Foundation

Islamic Civilization Magazine (IMD) was first published in August 1967. In 1974, the Islamic Civilization Foundation was established in Üsküdar, Istanbul on behalf of the journal, giving it an institutional start. With 5 publication periods until September 1982, the journal was active in publishing activities; in this context, it brought 44 issues to the academic world and related literatures. By embracing Islamic civilization, culture, art and literature, IMD has made significant contributions to the formation of a literature in this field. At this point, the journal's publishing activities have dealt with Turkey as the "last bastion of Islam" and Islamic Civilization has been put at the forefront. In addition, at a time when Islamic economics was being debated, the journal also covered Islam and economics issues such as interest, banking and labor rights. Various studies were included in a wide range of fields from economics to law and politics. The magazine aimed to move forward on a scholarly basis by staying away from daily politics. Mahir İz, Sezai Karakoç, Ali Ulvi Kurucu, Salih Tuğ, Selçuk Eraydın, Selçuk Eraydın, Esad Coşan, Ziya Kavakçı, Muhammed Hamidullah and Necmettin Erbakan are some of the thinkers who contributed to the magazine with their valuable articles.
